WHAT WE ENVISION

The return of a permanent, thriving Hawaiian presence to our Kailua home.

OUR MISSION

Established in Papa Louis Mahoe's garage in 1958, the Kailua Hawaiian Civic Club has held fast to the same kulaiwi-centered mission in our more than six decades of existence. We strive to: 1- enrich the lives of our ʻōiwi and ʻohana; 2- advance the appreciation, study, and practice of our culture; and 3- malama our lands, waters, iwi kupuna, and wahi pana.

We have been curators of Ulupo Heiau since 1987 (with ʻAhahui Malama i ka Lokahi since 2006, with AML and Hikaʻalani through 2016, under the auspices of Hikaʻalani since August 2017, and under the auspices of Kauluakalana since 2020). We have also taken responsibility, since 2021, for maintaining seven of the the iwi kupuna burial preserves in Kailua: Moanihi, Meheu, Kahalakea, Waikulukulu, Paheheʻe, and Mahulua 1-3. These pa ʻilina, along with Ulupō heiau and its surrounding lands, continue to be the piko of our efforts to ʻauʻa and hoʻoulu.

TRANSACTIONS VIA PAYPAL

DONATE / PURCHASE
We're definitely old school when it comes to handling money, but we have nudged ourselves a little bit forward by establishing a PayPal account through which you can pay dues, purchase stuff (fundraiser tickets, club T-shirts, etc.), and make donations. The button above covers all of these transactions, and (we hope) can easily be used by those who prefer electronics over snail mail.
