Mahalo nui to the mob who showed up on Sunday 8-18 to mālama our iwi kupuna at Moanihi, Waiʻauia. Moanihi is the name of famed and beloved fresh water pool that was once located at Waiʻauia near the mākāhā of Lapaokanaka. Weʻve given that old name to the new burial preserve built in approximately the same area. Thus does the inoa live again with new layer of significance. Wahi a ke mele:
Upu aʻe ke aloha no Moanihi / No ka wai luʻu poʻo o ka makamaka
Loves wells up for Moanihi / For the dived-in water of the loved ones.
